With a record setting cold and snowy February in Des Moines, it was little surprise that there would be some flooding if the snow melted quickly. Unfortunately, the snow melt was combined with several days of rain leading to flooding.

North of Des Moines, in Johnston, Beaver Creek has flooded the lower area, creating a wide area of flood water. While there appears to be little personal property damage in the Johnston area, ice dams critically damaged the trestle trail bridge, just north of Interstate 80. KCCI actually captured part of the collapse from their drone. The remainder of the bridge washed away in the high water.
